MicroSD (Micro SD) was originally
named T-Flash and then TransFlash before being rechristened microSD when
adopted by the SD Card Association (SDA). Other flashcard formats approved
by the SDA include miniSD and SD.
MicroSD/TransFlash is about a quarter of the size
of an SD card and is the newest standard of SD flash memory specifically
designed for use with ultra-small mobile phones and other devices (size:
15 mm x 11 mm x 1 mm -- tiny as a fingernail).
Like miniSD, the MicroSD is ideal for use in storing media-rich
files such as music, videos, and photographs in compatible mobile phones.
